Sat Dharam Kaur N.D.
Director of the Saighang Institute. Creator/lead instructor of the Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training
Sat Dharam is a Kundalini Yoga teacher trainer and instructor, author, and naturopathic doctor practicing in Owen Sound, Ontario. She has studied Kundalini Yoga since 1976 and has facilitated teacher training programs in Toronto (ON), Canmore (AB), Owen Sound, Amritsar (India), and New Mexico.
Sat Dharam was a lead trainer for the Kundalini Research Institute for several decades. She left that organization in 2021 when it was revealed that the primary teacher had sexually abused students, and this information had been kept hidden or was denied by the organization for many years.
In 2024, Sat Dharam began gathering her numerous educational trainings under one umbrella, called The Saibhang Institute. As part of that, she created her own Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training, expanding the teachings: 1) referencing original Sanskrit texts on Kundalini Yoga; 2) examining the science to explain the effectiveness of Kundalini Yoga; 3) exploring polyvagal theory in relation to Kundalini Yoga; 4) reconnecting to the Divine Feminine and its link to Kundalini Yoga; 5) tracing the source of the mantras used in Kundalini Yoga; 6) including trauma-informed practices in teaching Kundalini Yoga.
Sat Dharam’s Healthy Breast Program is designed to help educate women in breast cancer prevention through Kundalini Yoga and lifestyle change.Â
As far back as 2008, Sat Dharam developed an addiction recovery program using Kundalini Yoga, called Beyond Addiction, which gradually integrated Dr. Gabor’s teachings.Â
It is an internationally recognized treatment for anyone who wants to establish healthy thought patterns and habits to nourish mind, body and spirit, and to manifest an inspired and fulfilling life. The program builds healthy, resilient individuals, families and communities.
Compassionate Inquiry: Sat Dharam has been working closely with Dr. Gabor MatĂ© for many years in the delivery of the psychotherapeutic modality called Compassionate Inquiry. She is directly responsible for the creation of Compassionate Inquiry online professional training program, which has been taught to well over 4000 people in over 90 countries since 2019.Â
Sat Dharam’s books include A Call to Women: The Healthy Breast Program and Workbook, The Complete Natural Medicine Guide to Breast Cancer, and The Complete Natural Medicine Guide to Women’s Health.Â
Sat Dharam travels regularly, presenting at key international trauma conferences and teaching her many educational and therapeutic programs worldwide, spanning Canada, Britain, Europe, India, Dubai and Malasia.Â
TESTIMONIAL for the KYTT
“Sat Dharam Kaur's Saibhang Institute Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training is exceptional. It goes well beyond required and even expected content. In addition to the yoga asana, pranayama and mediation training, including how to teach properly, the program offers: 1) a thorough study of the history of yoga and Kundalini Yoga; 2) in depth study of yoga psychology and yoga philosophy; 3) trauma-informed study of polyvagal theory in application to teaching Kundalini yoga, and one's own spiritual journey, along with the importance of the Vagus nerve; 4) in depth study of mantra - pronunciation, purpose, application. I can go on and on. Yes, the manuals - five exceptional manuals for support of well over 1000 pages of knowledge, that become bibles of information for a lifetime. Also included are numerous PDF's of some of the oldest yogic texts ever written as part of the student website form. In general, Sat Dharam's generous sharing of her knowledge, wisdom, experience and lifetime passion and devotion speak volumes about her service and offering. The experience of learning through Sat Dharam is a gracious gift, offered in devotion by a true teacher of the tradition.”Â
