Danielle’s Influences

Danielle’s movement background includes a fifteen-year career as a professional dancer and choreographer with three of Canada’s foremost dance companies. She began her training in The Pilates Method in 1985, studying Pilates at The Alan Herdman Studio in London, England, and the Jean Claude West Studio originally located in New York City.

During her fifteen-year dance career, Danielle used Pilates to enhance her dance performance and training, and for injury recovery. During this time, she also studied numerous other movement systems towards this goal. Post dance, Danielle completed Bachelor of Arts in Literary Studies and Health Sciences at the University of Toronto and a Master’s Degree in Dance and Movement Education at York University. Danielle has also completed a two-year graduate degree as a Laban Movement Analyst (CMA) through the Université de Quebec à Montreal, in conjunction with the Laban Institute of Movement studies in New York.

Danielle is certified as a Pilates Specialist through Stott Pilates and Body Harmonics, and the Pilates Method Alliance, the governing body for Pilates in North America. She is also Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy practitioner and Life and Wellness Coach through the Canada Coaching Academy and International Coaching Federation (ICF).

Danielle is the creator of Integrated Movement Therapies (IMT)® and is presently a student of Compassionate Inquiry, an approach to psychotherapy created by Dr. Gabor Mate and Sat Dharam Kaur.
