Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga
Yoga, breath work and meditation are transforming. They are also totally accessible and adaptable for all ages and abilities. As the yoga of awareness, these ancient and powerful practices are not about perfecting a pose or exclusively about postures at all. Yoga postures are useful to care for and strengthen the body, nervous system and glandular system. But the posture is ultimately about “who you are being while in the posture”. Notice your mind and body and bring compassion to that.Â
Â
Hence, the practices are designed to connect you, in both stillness and motion, to your capacity to be present in the moment, so you can evolve a deeper trust in the unchanging truth of who you are. It is about stilling of the mind to come to the realization that you are not your body, or mind. To uncover your true Self and the Oneness of all that is. Self-realization for the benefit of all.Â
Here in lies your GPS for living the gift of your life well, with humility, joy and compassion. The most important aspect of yoga is concentration, absorption and merger.
As such, Kundalini Yoga is a physical practice that prioritizes the spiritual and psychological aspects of self-awareness. It is a dynamic and ancient yogic system that combines breath, movement, stretching, postures and meditation. It uses sound, rhythm, mantra, exertion, relaxation and meditation to create a transformative experience for the student. Each class includes a pranayama, followed by a sequence of postures designed for specific effects, followed by relaxation (shavasana) for integration, closing with a meditation into stillness.Â
Kundalini Yoga is a living tradition. It originated during the Tantra and Shakti period in India in the 6th century CE and has evolved over hundreds of years through a variety of lineages and teachers. It was brought to North America in 1968. As there are a wide variety of exercises and meditations utilized in Kundalini Yoga, it can be adapted to address many specific health applications.
TESTIMONIAL
I met my teacher and mentor Danielle at Sat Dharam’s Yoga Teacher Training and immediately was drawn to the unusual feeling of embodiment that I felt in her presence. During the months that followed I learned and benefited a lot from her wonderful teachings.
Danielle has an impeccable knowledge of yoga anatomy and ability to communicate the concepts and structural details with precision and ease. It’s a pleasure to learn from her as she not only adjusts her teachings to the level of the student but also demonstrates and transfers the knowledge in a unique way beyond any anatomy class in an academic or studio environment. Danielle provides a 3-D immersive learning environment for her students to grasp the concepts and feel the information through the mind as well as understand it with the entire body.
As a yoga teacher Danielle is caring, precise and loving. I felt amazingly safe when practicing under her guidance, and her ability to deliver exceptional experiences gave me inspiration for the time until the next class. I even sought her mentorship after the training was over, to continue receiving depth of anatomy knowledge and its application of specific yoga teaching techniques.
Danielle combines a great depth of understanding of the body, mind and spirit and how the human system functions on the mat with fine-tuned delivery of what she loves and knows the most. This makes her an exceptional teacher of the teachers and a committed kind friend to anyone who is willing to explore the path of Yoga.
